Oh Em GHEE... this toast has me going for gold, and I'm not just talking about the color of the turmeric-infused butter I slathered all over this.
Don't get me wrong. I love to slow-cook oats over the stove or poach a few eggs when I have time. But sometimes, I need something quick... but still savory and satisfying. That's where toast comes in. If you pick the right bread, you get the perfect balance of grains & seeds (in my case, gluten free millet and flax)... if you pick the right setting on your toaster, you get super crisp perfection. And, if you happen to pick the right toppings (butter an radishes are totally a French thing, and although I've never traveled to the county, they must be doing something right), you get the just right the right balance of crunchy veg , and healthy fats to help you fuel up for the day. Ok, well, there's also coffee for that, but I guess you can put some ghee in there too. I mean, I do- and it's damn delicious, and creamy. Not to mention, great for revving up your metabolism and supporting stable energy levels. So, how's that for a morning meal? Don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure this is a "winning" breakfast. And these glistening slices toast... well they totally look like medals to me.
Radish Toast with Ghee
(For 1, or more...you never know)
Here's what you'll need:
- organic radishes
- organic radish sprouts
- 1-2 tsp. ghee (I love the turmeric ghee by Lees Provisions)
- a pinch of Fleur De Sel
- cracked black pepper
- gf bread
Here's what you do:
- Grab your favorite bread, and toast thoroughly on both sides. Quickly spread on the ghee, and top with radish slices, sprouts, a crack of pepper and a pinch of salt. A quick squeeze of lemon might be a nice addition too! DEVOUR!
